Privacy Policy

Account information. Your first and last name, your email address, and a password (stored in protected form by our sign-in provider). You may also choose to share an age range. Sharing it is optional.

Conversation content. The audio of your guided conversation, the written transcript made from it, the answers matched to each question, any edits you make, and the finished keepsake. We also keep the names and email addresses you give us for the people you invite, your relationship to them, and a record of each person's consent to be recorded.

Waitlist information. If you join our waitlist, your name, your email address, and whether you agreed to be notified or to receive special offers.

Technical information. The type of device and browser you use, when you sign in, and recording events such as pauses and interruptions. We use these to keep recordings reliable and to help when something goes wrong.

Payments. We do not currently take payments in the app. If we do, payments will be handled by a third-party payment processor, and we will not store your full card number.

We use your information to create and secure your account, to run the guided conversation, to turn your recording into a written keepsake, to send you the emails you need (such as invitations, sign-in help, and delivery notices), to answer your questions, and to keep the service working and safe.

If you joined our waitlist and agreed to receive special offers, we may email you about them. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email or by writing to us.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your recordings or stories for advertising.

Nothing is recorded until every person in the conversation has given their okay inside the app. The recording pauses when a phone call comes in, so no one is recorded without their say-so.

Both the person asking the questions and the person telling their story can download the full audio before the keepsake is accepted.

Your keepsake and answers are available to the storyteller and the interviewer on that conversation. No one else can open them unless one of you shares them.

A small number of our team members may access conversation content to check that recordings are clear and that answers match their questions, and to provide support. We use technology service providers to help us process your content, listed below.

We use trusted companies to help us run the service: Vercel (website hosting), Supabase (database, sign-in, and file storage), Replicate (turning audio into text and identifying speakers), Anthropic (AI that helps tidy transcribed words into first-person answers), and Resend (sending email). They process information only to provide these services to us. Where the law requires it, we may also disclose information in response to a valid legal request.

Recordings. Once the storyteller accepts the keepsake, we permanently delete every recording from our servers. If a story is never accepted, recordings are deleted automatically after 180 days.

Everything else. We keep your account, answers, and keepsake for as long as you have an account or as needed to provide the service, unless you ask us to delete them.

You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, including your account. Email hello@joyfullconversations.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you live in California, you have these rights under California privacy law, and we will not treat you differently for using them.

You can unsubscribe from special-offer emails at any time. Service emails, such as invitations and sign-in help, are part of the service.

Your story and recordings are stored on private, encrypted servers, and access is limited to the people involved and the team members who need it to provide the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

JoyFullConversations is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and the service working. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

If we make meaningful changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know by email or in the app.
