Terms of Service

JoyFullConversations provides a guided set of questions for two people to talk through, a way to record that conversation on a phone, and a written keepsake created from the recording in the storyteller's own words. Some features may be offered as early access or pre-release versions, which may change or contain errors.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You agree to give accurate information, to keep your password private, and to tell us if you think your account has been used without your permission. You are responsible for activity on your account.

Recording laws differ from place to place. Before any recording starts, every person in the conversation must give their okay inside the app. You agree that you will not record anyone who has not agreed, and that you will follow the recording laws that apply to you. A storyteller may ask that anything be left out of their story, and we will honor it.

You keep ownership of your recordings, answers, and stories ("Your Content"). You give us a limited license to host, process, and display Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you, including transcribing audio, using AI-assisted tools to prepare answers, and producing your keepsake. We do not sell Your Content. Recordings are deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.

We use AI tools to help turn audio into text and to tidy the words into first-person answers. These tools are meant to work only with what was actually said. You review your answers and may edit them before you accept the keepsake. AI can make mistakes, so please read your keepsake carefully.

You agree not to use the Service to break the law, to harass or harm anyone, to record someone without their consent, to upload content that violates another person's rights, to interfere with or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, or to copy or resell the Service or our questions.

Prices are shown before you buy. We aim to deliver your keepsake about a week after you review and accept your answers. After you receive your PDF keepsake, you may request one round of changes within 30 days. If we offer a code, discount, or early access, it may have its own conditions, which will be shown when it is offered.

The Service, including its design, questions, text, logos, and the JoyFullConversations name, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. These Terms do not give you any right to use them except to use the Service as intended.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error free. Recordings depend on your phone, your connection, and your surroundings, and we cannot guarantee every moment will be captured. We are not a substitute for professional legal, financial, or medical advice.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

You may stop using the Service at any time and may ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@joyfullconversations.com. We may suspend or end access if you break these Terms or if we must do so to protect people or the Service.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Santa Barbara County, California, unless the law requires otherwise.

We may update these Terms. If we make meaningful changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new Terms.
